Why?
A List of Whys In No Particular Order
Why I Write:
To relax my mind after a day of chaos out in the world
To evaluate my day after a day with no rest
To plan my steps for a better tomorrow
To send messages to friends that I think might laugh or at least appreciate it
To have some moments inside my head come out in words
To create something real from nothing
To be productive when my mind needs peace
To remember events before I forget them all one day
To make me laugh, or cry, or smile or feel nothing at all
To make others laugh, or cry, or smile or feel nothing at all
To share myself in an honest way with no gatekeepers controlling my output
Because every once in a while I might actually say something worth writing down.
Why I Photograph:
To capture a time that will never occur again
To remember an image that I see in my head
To document a feeling that was shared with someone else
To share a story that I see in front of me
To tell a lie that may feel silly
To show a truth that makes me nervous
To satisfy myself and at times my ego
To make a book to share with others
To give a gift that’s one of a kind
To sell an idea that I believe in
To display an emotion that we all can understand
Because every once in a while I might actually take a picture that’s showing something unique
Why I Play Piano Poorly:
Because I don’t know how to anymore
Because I hear a melody in my head
Because I want to hear an emotion
Because I can’t play a chord on a guitar
Because I want to pretend I’m a virtuoso
Because one note is all it takes for me to feel something
Because a musical instrument must be played when the opportunity arises
Because it reminds me of childhood
Because it reminds me of how talented people can be
Because I love the sound it makes
Because I don’t know how to work the pedals
Because every once in a while I might accidentally play a melody that sounds kind of nice.
Why I Watch Baseball:
Because it helps me remember a game that I love to play
Because I occasionally have dreams when I am playing again, but I never get an at bat
Because I love the strategy behind every single pitch
Because I love the one on one game
Because it is unpredictable
Because it reminds me of my family
Because it reminds me of my friends
Because there is no time limit
Because sometimes I just want to spend three hours watching a game I don’t have any control over
Because a home run looks so majestic from that one angle (you know the one I’m talking about)
Because it used to make me cry
Because every once in a while you might see something you’ve never seen before, and it’ll make you laugh
Why I Don’t Run:
Because my knees hurt whenever I try
